There is a key on every PC keyboard I would LOVE to pry loose and smash with a hammer. “Which key is that?”, you ask. It’s that despicable, useless, totally-in-the-way “caps lock” key. I HATE IT!!
I can’t tell you how many times I have been typing, and, wanting to hit the “shift” or “tab” keys, my fingers miss by just a hair, and that stupid “caps lock” key gets activated.
“C’mon now,” you say, “it’s just another key on your keyboard. How bad can it be?”
How bad can it be. Well …..hOW’S THIS FOR STARTERS? iS IT PLEASANT TO READ SENTENCES WITH THE UPPER AND LOWER CASES REVERSED? dOES IT SUDDENLY MAKE SENSE TO HAVE EVERY SENTENCE START IN LOWER-CASE, THEN RAMBLE ALONG IN ALL CAPS?
Does anyone ever have a legitimate use for the “caps lock” key? I suppose if you want to SCREAM AT SOMEONE in writing it is convenient, but we should all be very, very constrained in our use of screaming anyway. The world has enough stress; let’s not add to it.
Is there a setting we can use to disable the “caps lock” key? Maybe turn it into something useful, like …… well, just about any other key on the keyboard.
I for one am SICK AND TIRED OF THE “CAPS LOCK” KEY, AND WOULD LIKE TO PROPOSE A NATIONAL AMMENDMANT TO ABOLISH IT!
Postscript, 23/January/2015 – there is yet ANOTHER key on my laptop I want to destroy. It’s the left button of the built-in mouse pad. It sucks! It only registers being pressed maybe half of the time. To use this laptop, I need to keep a slender blunt object around, (such as the non-working end of a ballpoint pen, or a small spoon), that I can repeatedly poke it with when it is not responding. I’ve taken my frustrations with its nonresponsiveness out on it many, many times; it’s actually a miracle it still works at all. But one day …… WHACK!! And the left button of the built-in mouse pad will be no more.
